JH: Photos Of Locations:
- Our primary ideas for locations of our production included a woods with space to film including pathways as well as a rundown abandoned house.
- This one in Ightham woods is ideal however rests on private land so permission is probably required from the owner.
- This house is good for the idea of our film as it incorporates mise-en-scene which reflects the horror/thriller genre.
- Trees can also be incorporated with the filming for effect, however, shots such as birds eye shots will be hard to replicate.
- Despite being rundown, the house still has windows so if indoor filming is taking place then we could make use of the natural lighting.
- The effect of the abandoned house creates an spooky mood at day and at night.
- Despite, being very obscure there are pathways that allow character movement to the house.
- One disadvantage being during planning a road is needed for a shot. There is a road near but is now shut off by a gate.
- There are small holes and cracks in the walls of the house which make it possible to create one of the key shots of our production mentioned in the treatment.
- One disadvantage is the fact the hole may be to invisible, however, this can be combated with lighting and extreme close ups.
- The inside of the house may need lighting for effect, i.e. candle light.
- most rooms of the house are accessible with difficulty.
- If filming is likely to be done inside then this room is most ideal as it has the wall with the hole in it.
- Area around the house is woodland with space for good shots, including ideas of visual pairing.
- Woodland useful for creating an atmosphere, however in some positions around the abandoned house peoples gardens and houses which are inhabited are visible which means selection of shots must be crucial.
- This room of the house is the easiest to access and has room for props in mise-en-scene.
- However, the other rooms location is better for filming including the crack in the wall for one of the key shots.
- In conclusion, this house seems ideal for overall filming, however inhabitants of the may need to be informed, plot alteration may also be needed to suite the location. And finally permission may have to be granted before filming can begin.
- The days for filming must also be considered, including weather and brightness.
That small hole in the wall would work well to incorporate the zooming shot from Sucker Punch we want to use. Great location choice.
